Grapes for Randall Grahm's 'The Language of Yes' Grenache come from the single vineyard ‘Rancho Réal’, in the Santa Maria Valley which is one of the coolest sites where vines are successfully grown in California. The gentlest techniques were used to coax out complexity, such as: ‘en passerillage’; the post-harvest drying of the grapes. They were placed on paper raisin trees in the shade of the vine itself, which allowed for a slight dehydration and concentration of the grapes. The wine was aged for 12 months in used puncheons and stainless steel and bottled without fining or filtration. The Language of Yes Grenache is an elegant and layered red wine with opulent notes of strawberry, rhubarb and a hint of blood orange enveloped in autumnal spiced notes of cloves and sandalwood with an extremely persistent finish.
