With these new works Mickael explores an exciting new take on the art of the paperweight. The brilliant colors in the blossoms are an important feature in Mickael's aesthetic. He lives and  works on the French tropical island of Réunion, located in the Indian Ocean off the the coast of Africa and he draws much inspiration from the tropical plants and animals of this lush environment. This example features a well executed composition of various tropical blossoms bundled and in a bouquet and gathered by a. red & white ribbon, set agains a gold leaf ground with transparent garnet colored backing. It is cut polished and beveled on all sides by American cold-work artist Jim Poore.
