is a renowned Los Angeles-based artist known for his sleek, colorful, and captivating acrylic sculptures. He was a Senior Professor of Design at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) where he taught color theory for many years.
Mihich is a master of acrylic and has worked with the material for nearly 50 years. His finest works, exemplified by this piece, feature colors that meld, recede or transform into different shades.
His sculptures, with their different geometric planes suspended in acrylic, are dynamic and endlessly fascinating. Caviar20 is excited to offer this fine example of one of Vasa Mihich's iconic "Sphere" sculptures. His spheres, which are highly sought-after by collectors, are the most difficult of his sculptures to create. This form is also arguably the rarest and most desirable.
"Harmony Orb" rests on a custom clear acrylic stand, revealing colors and densities that vary based on its position or the viewer's angle. Thin semi-spherical slices fill either end of the work, featuring daring shades of grape, Yves Klein blue, and merlot, which are contrasted by electric accents of blood orange, electric lime, turquoise, and neon pink.
After dedicating years of his career to education, Mihich now commits himself fully to his studio in Los Angeles where he continues to push the potential of sculpture with the acrylic medium.
